The Problem

Air and water pollution; climate change; natural resource depletion; deforestation; loss of biodiversity — these are just some of the critical issues connected to the Earth, water, air, and climate. The powerful agricultural and industrial interests that cause and profit from environmental degradation, and the politicians they hold sway over, are deeply invested in the lucrative status quo. And they have the resources to make their voices heard over those calling for change.

The Solution

The mission of Earth Guardians is “to grow a resilient movement with youth at the forefront by empowering them as leaders and amplifying their impact.” Protect Our Future is the organization’s ongoing campaign highlighting environmental issues connected to the Earth, Water, Air, and Climate. And Earth Guardians’ Youth Director Xiuhtezcatl Tonatiuh is one of 21 youth plaintiffs suing the federal government for the right to clean air, clean water, and a healthy future. Founded as an accredited high school in Maui, Hawaii in 1992, focusing on environmental awareness and action in its core curriculum, Earth Guardians now works with thousands of engaged youth on six continents.
