Guzakuza: Growing women Agripreneurs (entrepreneurs in the agriculture sector)

description
Guzakuza is derived from two Swahili words: Guza(touch) and Kuza (grow). Guzakuza touches lives by growing women Agripreneurs in Ghana to create jobs and produce healthy food for the community.

The Problem

The world's population is increasing exponentially. By 2050, the world's population is expected to surpass 9 billion people. Guzakuza asks how are we supposed to feed all those people? In addition, in Ghana, there are low levels of women's education and empowerment, especially in the more remote, rural areas of the country.

The Solution

Guzakuza is an organization that focuses simultaneously on women's empowerment and agricultural entrepreneurship. It's flagship program is Ignite, which is a agribusiness incubator program for women under the age of 35. The program helps these female entrepreneurs to secure financing, mentorship, residence, and internships so that they can, in turn, challenge the status quo and push the sector forward. While still in its early stage, Ignite has already helped dozens of women to become successful and self-reliant agripreneurs.
